Software Intern
🏥 Some software helps people shop faster.
Some software helps people save lives.
🚨 GE HealthCare is hiring Software Interns.
One of the most rewarding aspects of software engineering is that it isn’t limited to the tech industry.
Today, engineers are solving challenges in healthcare, finance, transportation, manufacturing, education, and countless other domains.
Healthcare, in particular, is undergoing a major digital transformation.
From medical imaging and hospital systems to AI-assisted diagnostics and connected healthcare devices, software is becoming a critical part of improving patient care.
That’s what makes opportunities like this especially meaningful.
You’re not just building software.
You’re contributing to technology that can help doctors make better decisions and improve outcomes for patients around the world.
If you’re preparing for software engineering internships, here’s where I’d focus my efforts:
âś… Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills
âś… Data Structures and Algorithms
âś… Object-Oriented Programming and software design principles
âś… Databases, APIs, and backend development fundamentals
âś… Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
âś… Understanding software quality, debugging, and version control
âś… Curiosity to learn new technologies and solve real-world problems
One thing I admire about healthcare technology is this:
Success isn’t measured only by speed or new features.
It’s measured by reliability, accuracy, and trust.
Because when software supports critical healthcare workflows, quality becomes just as important as innovation.
As technology continues to reshape healthcare, engineers who combine strong technical skills with a mindset for building reliable systems will play an increasingly important role.
Sometimes the most meaningful software isn’t the most visible.
It’s the software quietly making a difference behind the scenes.

Interview advice
Going for this role at GE HealthCare? A few things that help freshers walk in prepared:
- Before you go in, list the top three things this job asks for and prepare one concrete example for each — then tie every answer back to them.
- Put numbers on your achievements: "8.5/10 GPA", "cut load time by 40%", "led a team of four" lands far better than "good grades" or "hard-working".
- For a virtual interview, test your internet, camera and mic in advance, sit somewhere quiet and well-lit, and still dress formally — it signals you are serious.
- Prepare two or three thoughtful questions to ask them about the team, the work and growth; "I have no questions" reads as low interest.
- It is fine not to know something — say how you would find the answer. Freshers are hired for how they think, not for knowing everything already.
