𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 | 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 | 𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗶

We are looking for a motivated intern to contribute to an ongoing research project at the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Centre (TRIP Centre), IIT Delhi, focused on developing a low-cost, vehicle-mounted sensing device for road safety research.

The project involves designing and assembling an IMU-based reference sensing device comprising a three-axis accelerometer and gyroscope for vehicle monitoring. The developed device will serve as a reference-grade measurement system and will be used for validation and comparison with smartphone-based sensors to evaluate their reliability in identifying safety-critical driving events such as harsh braking, sudden acceleration, and abnormal vehicle movements.

🔍 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

• Assembly and integration of electronic sensor components
• Calibration and testing of accelerometer and gyroscope sensors
• Development of a vehicle-compatible data acquisition and logging setup
• Ensuring proper sensor installation and functioning during vehicle testing
• Supporting the comparison of reference sensor data with smartphone-based measurements
• Assisting in field testing and validation of the developed device

🎯 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱

• Basic knowledge of electronics and sensor systems
• Understanding of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and IMU sensors
• Familiarity with sensor calibration and data acquisition methods
• Basic programming knowledge in Python or a similar language will be beneficial
• Ability to assemble electronic components and troubleshoot sensor- or hardware-related issues
• Basic understanding of data handling and analysis will be an advantage
